For me the collaboration that took place between fashion and textiles last year went pretty smoothly. Both the girls I work with were very nice and very enthusiastic about my work, and pretty much gave me free reign on what I designed. There were a few misunderstandings about how they wanted my designs printed onto their pattern pieces, as I was new to printing and they didn't know how it worked at all! I also found it very strange sitting in on their crits, as they seem to work very differently in fashion. Overall though I loved the experience, especially seeing my own prints in the fashion show, as without the fashion students that wouldn't have happened. One of the girls' dresses was selected to be photographed by a professional photographer, and it was really interesting to see our designs in such a professional context. hope this helps! x
I am currently in my 3rd year at Edinburgh College of Art studying Textiles. This blog is my latest project which is a collaborative with a fashion student. Basically the idea of this Blog is to get as much feedback as possible from you the readers. I want to gather as many views people have on collaboratives in general and how they worked out for them...what they learnt? wether they would do anything different and so on. I will use this information in my own project to avoid potential problems and also record everything in a book! So please feel free to comment on anything on my blog and also please share your views on any collaborations you have done or are currently doing!
